Not really interested in American rifles, more just the UK/Europe ones that have proven popular in the Scottish Highlands and European alps over the years. I know there will be a lot of personal opinions/preferances to particular makes and models but any info would be greatly appreciated. Then there are all the European ones like Steyr Mannlicher, Krico, Heym, CZ/Brno etc etc which I am unsure how they all fit in compared with the lovely Sako Forester/579. And Midland guns seem to be in the same range as Parker Hale. I notice that BSA and Parker Hale seem to go for similar prices over here, but for some reason in NZ the BSA has asking prices of about 3 times more than a Parker Hale. It is nicely finished and has retained its highly-polished bluing throughout. I am toying with the idea of getting a classic open sight rifle (in 243 or 6.5x55) in the but there certainly seems to be a lot to choose from. 30-06 caliber Bolt Action Rifle with 25 in. I like compact rifles and Howa makes a great gun, so hope this will make a great. I am just wondering if someone can provide insight/ dummies guide to the hierarchy I guess you would call it of UK/Europe rifles from the 60's onwards. Following Randy Newberg and wished I could have bought the Alpine Mtn rifle.
